Fairy Tales I

Wie ihr vielleicht schon mitbekommen habt, mag ich Challenges. Ich mag's, wenn ich mir zu einem Thema etwas Kreatives ausdenken kann und dann schauen kann, was anderen zum selben Thema eingefallen ist. Ob's dafür einen Gewinn gibt oder nicht ist nicht so wichtig, aber ich freu mich immer riesig, wenn mein Design jemandem gefällt.

Diesmal geht's um Märchen. Könnt ihr erraten, welches es ist?

I don't know if you've noticed but I love challenges. I enjoy having a theme and going crazy with it and then seeing what ideas other people had. I'm not fussed there's a prize for it or not, but it makes me all giddy if people like my design.

Today's theme is fairy tales. I'm not sure how well this one's known outside Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Cherry Bomb feiert 100 Leser mit einem Contest, was ich viel cooler finde als einfach eine Ziehung. Wenn ich mal genug Leser hab, werd ich das auch so machen! Die Aufgabe ist, etwas zum Thema "Fairy Tale" zu gestalten, wobei das Makeup, Nail Art, Frisuren oder sonstwas sein kann. Mehr Infos weiter unten im Post! Ich hab mich natürlich für Nail Art entschieden ;)

Ich war vom Thema ziemlich inspiriert und hab gleich mehrere Designs gemacht, die ich euch auch nach und nach zeigen möchte, aber dieser gefällt mir am besten.

Vielleicht habt ihr ja die Inspiration schon als Sterntaler erkannt. Das ist jetzt nicht eins der bekanntesten Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm, aber ich fand es immer ganz süß. Vollgepackt mit christlicher Moral natürlich, aber in einer der harmloseren Varianten.

Begonnen hab ich mit a-england Bridal Veil, einem schönen, etwas matten Schwarz mit Mikroglitzer. Dann wollte ich doch noch mehr Sternenhimmel haben und habe zwei Schichten Viva la Diva 70 (von dem ich noch mal genauer berichten muss) aufgetragen.

Cherry Bomb, a German blogger, is celebrating 100 followers with a contest (more info at the end of this post) - I think that's so much more fun than just a raffle, I think I'll do that too if sometime in the future I have enough readers. Anyway, the topic is fairy tales and you can do pretty much anything beauty-related: makeup, hair, nails, etc. I picked nail art, no surprise there ;)

I was really inspired by the theme and painted  several different looks - you'll get to see them all soon - but I liked this one best.

It's based on one of the lesser-known Brothers Grimm stories - I don't think this one ever made it into the translations. It's your basic moral story where a poor orphan girl gives away her last loaf of bread and her clothes to people who need them more, and in the end she even gives her shift to a cold child, and then suddenly stars start falling from the sky and turn into gold coins and she's suddenly wearing a soft new linen dress and catches the coins in it.

I always thought it was rather cute though - and as morals go, this one is pretty harmless compared to most other fairy tales...

Dann hab ich mit meinen üblichen Verdächtigen das Waisenmädchen gemalt und vorsichtig IsaDora Wonder Nail Arctic Treasure als Sterntaler in ihren Schoß fallen lassen.

Mir gefällt es ganz gut, vor allem weil sie nur auf einem Nagel als Akzent ist und die restlichen einfach märchenhafter Sternenhimmel sind. Ich nehm meine Inspirationen ja eigentlich immer sehr wörtlich und ich kann euch versichern, dass dieses die am wenigsten wörtliche Interpretation von allen meinen Märchennägeln ist ;)

I started with a-england Bridal Veil, which is a great matte black with microglitter. Then I decided I wanted more of a starry skies look and added two coats of Viva la Diva in No. 70 (I need to tell you a bit more about that one soon).

Next I drew the girl using my cheapo white, yellow and pinks, and dabbed on IsaDora Wonder Nail Arctic Treasure as falling stars/gold.

I like how it turned out, with just the one accent nail to tell the story and the magical glitter on all the other nails. I tend to be pretty literal in my interpretations and I'm telling you, this is the least literal of all my fairy tale nails ;)

Zu gewinnen gibt es bei Cherry Bomb die Produkte für einen "Ice Princess"-Alltags-Look, den sie auch geschminkt hat, sowie Blogvorstellungen für die Top 3. Ich bin erst seit Kurzem Leserin ihres Blogs und möchte mich deswegen nicht um den Sachgewinn bewerben (außerdem bin ich mir gar nicht sicher, ob der Contest international ist) - ich würde mich aber freuen, wenn ein paar Leuten meine Nägel gefallen und sie dadurch auf mein Blog finden. Since I've only recently started following her blog and I'm actually not even sure it's open internationally, I'm not entering for the makeup prize, but maybe a few people will like my nail look and find my blog.
